Museum Mounir Abou-Debs

A new museum in honour of Mounir Abou-Debs as part of Maison Fraykeh

Maison Fraykeh is pleased to announce plans for a museum to honour the life’s work of Mounir Abou-Debs – one of the most influential Lebanese artists and choreographers of the 20th century. Abou-Debs, who revolutionised the art of dance and movement in the Arab world, created a bridge between modern Western and traditional Arab aesthetics with his work and had a decisive influence on the country’s culture.

The future museum will bring the life story, creativity and artistic achievements of Abou-Debs to life. Exhibition rooms with photos, original costumes, film clips and personal notes by the artist are planned. His unique choreographic works and historical stage sets will also be brought to life through multimedia installations.

The aim of the museum is to honour the importance of Abou-Debs for the performing arts and Lebanese identity and to make his legacy accessible to future generations. The project will be an inspiring place of remembrance and creativity, encouraging artists from all over the world to discover and share Abou-Debs’ pioneering spirit and love of movement.
